Let’s make something quirky and joy-filled—just because.

The Crone’s Table is my monthly online circle for paid subscribers—a cozy, creative gathering where we slow down, connect, and make art that doesn’t need to be perfect to matter. It’s a space for soulful women in their third act to create, reflect, and remember who they are—one soulful project at a time.

And this month? We’re going light. Easy. Joyful.

Because honestly, life feels a little bat-sh*t crazy right now. And sometimes what we need most isn’t a deep process—it’s a creative exhale.

So that’s what we’re doing in July. I’m calling it: Happy Making. Mindless, playful, coloring-outside-the-lines kind of making.

Why This Matters

Earlier this month, I hit the wall. Texas broke my heart. At the same time, parts of North Carolina were underwater again. Good people were being tossed to the ground and taken away, and families were being torn apart.

When I reach the point where I want to shut down, I try to stop and notice my body. I do my best to lean into my heart. And I ask what I need to allow some flow… energetic movement. It might take a minute, or ten, to soften enough to hear my inner wisdom, but it’s always there.

And this time, sitting in that deep emotional place, I saw little happy images of color. And I knew I needed to play to shift the vibe.

So, I pulled out my water-soluble crayons and doodled a happy little image. Something silly. Something soft.

It wasn’t denial—it was healing. And it felt really good.

Don’t get me wrong. I love a good process-worthy project. There are times when focused, intentional creativity helps us delve deeper into something. But sometimes we need to color teapots and flowers just for the hell of it.

We need to doodle. To play. To give our nervous system a gentle, joyful pause. To remember that we still get to feel good. That we can still make space for joy.

So I hope you’ll join me for this month’s Crone’s Table and give yourself the gift of a creative recharge.

The Plan

Bring something to create with that’s colorful: crayons, oil pastels, watercolors… whatever you want. Then, let’s doodle, sketch something without the pressure to get it right, and then get a little crazy with color. Let’s make something cute, maybe even weird, definitely imperfect. It will feel so good.

And let’s make the chatter happy. Let’s share what’s been bringing us joy lately. Not to ignore the hard stuff, but to refill the well. To remember that together, we can still laugh. Still make. Still feel something shift.

I’ll share a PDF of playful image prompts you can use, if you’d like, as a jumping-off point.
